Feeling Innocent and Not Committing Criminal Acts, Richard Lee Denies Committing Illegal Access

Although the case has reached the prosecutor's office, Richard Lee stated that he is ready to face the trial. He is optimistic that he is innocent in the case that once led to his forced arrest by the Jakarta Metro Police.

"Regarding the illegal access, I am optimistic. I feel innocent, did not commit illegal access," said Richard Lee when met at the Jakarta Metro Police, Wednesday (8/9).

This Medan-born man firmly believes that he will face the trial of his case optimistically, as he feels that he is not someone who commits criminal acts.

In addition, Richard Lee admitted that he was unaware that his Instagram account also uploaded videos, even though the Instagram account was being seized by the police in connection with Kartika Putri's report. He only uploaded videos on Facebook that were directly connected to his Instagram account, which became the reason why the police suspected illegal access by Richard Lee.

Meanwhile, the examination of Richard Lee was brief. He only answered about 10 additional questions.

"I am optimistic. Let my lawyer handle it in court later. I feel that I did not commit a criminal offense. Well, I don't know, I know that Instagram was seized, not Facebook. I posted on my Facebook, it wasn't seized," he said.

"Ah, a few (questions), not many, just completing, five to ten only. Regarding whether or not I knew it was against the law," he added.

It is known that Richard Lee was arrested by the police at his residence, on suspicion of illegal access and evidence tampering on August 11, 2021, and he has now been declared a suspect. However, Richard Lee was not detained and was allowed to go home because he was cooperative. In this case, Richard Lee is charged with Article 30 in conjunction with Article 46 of the ITE Law and/or Article 231 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 221 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum sentence of eight years in prison.
