Unpleasant news comes from the world of Japanese anime. Film producer of YOUR NAME and SUZUME, Koichiro Ito, was arrested by the police for child pornography. Koichiro is suspected of violating the Law on Prohibition of Child Prostitution and Child Pornography.
As reported by the Japanese daily The Mainichi, the producer was arrested by the Wakayama Prefecture Police on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. He is accused of forcing a 15-year-old teenager to send nude photos. The incident occurred in September 2021.
The victim herself is a high school student in Nagano Prefecture. Koichiro Ito got acquainted with her and communicated through social media. The investigators suspect that Koichiro Ito knew that the student was still underage at the time of the incident. Currently, the police are still investigating whether there are other possible victims.

The case of child pornography involving Koichiro Ito was revealed when the name of the producer emerged in a separate investigation. Investigating officers immediately began investigating Koichiro.
