Forbidden to Eat Sugar, Here Are 8 Photos of Laura Theux & Indra Brotolaras' Child Celebrating Their Birthday with a Watermelon Cake

Laura Theux was in the spotlight during her first pregnancy. Now, the little one is already 1 year old. The celebration of the first birthday of Laura Theux and Indra Brotolaras' child, Wayan Victoria Semesta Brotolaras, is gaining attention due to its unique concept. Laura chose to make a cake made of watermelon herself.

Laura explained that she did not want to give sugar to Victoria, even on her birthday. For Laura, the child's health remains the top priority.

"Because I don't want to let my child eat sugar," Laura said when met in the Kapten Tendean area, Mampang, South Jakarta, on Monday (26/5/2025). Here are the details.

Indra also added that they work hard to maintain their child's food intake from an early age. Snacks and unhealthy treats are avoided as much as possible, in order to build a healthy lifestyle from a young age.

"Especially since they are still a baby, we try to keep our child away from sugar as much as possible, to keep them healthy, we also avoid snacks, we always prepare nutritious food," said Indra.

They also took the initiative to make a birthday cake from watermelon slices. It was shaped like a cake and decorated to look attractive. Although they faced challenges while making it, Laura felt the result was quite satisfying and met expectations. "The cake is shaped like that from watermelon, it's cute, really cute," Laura said.

However, the process of making it is not as easy as it looks on social media. Laura admits that there were many challenges during the cake-making, but nothing went to waste because the leftover fruit was still utilized.

"Honestly, it's certainly complicated and not as quick as in the video, there are many challenges and in the comments, many people say it's a shame that a lot goes to waste, but nothing goes to waste, the leftovers are juiced," said Laura.

Indra even explained in detail how they saved the unused fruit leftovers. Every part of the watermelon was utilized, nothing was simply thrown away. "The leftover watermelon on the rind, we scoop it again," said Indra.

In addition to being utilized, the leftover watermelon was also stored in the fridge to later be made into juice. Although this was their first experience, Laura and Indra went through it with enthusiasm and teamwork as parents. "It was stored in the fridge first and then juiced, because it was the first time, so it really was trial and error," Laura said.

Now after trying to make it, Laura feels more skilled and confident. If she makes the watermelon cake again later, she already knows the things that need to be improved from her previous experience. "First the cut, I’m already more skilled now," said Laura.
