Funny Story of Aib Mercury During Indonesian Idol Auditions, Kicked Out by Security Guard for Wearing Underwear Shirt

Kapanlagi.com - Ariep Hidayatullah changed his name to Aib Mercury after successfully breaking into the music industry. Aib admitted that his stage name was inspired by his unique experience during the auditions for Indonesian Idol season ten.

"So at that time, Aib was queuing in the heat. Then someone said, 'Hey, why does your face look like Freddie Mercury?'. From there, I got the idea to make myself look like Freddie Mercury. So I took off my jacket and only wore an underwear shirt," said Aib Mercury at 98 Coffebar, South Jakarta, on Monday (27/7/2020),

1. Blocked by Security Officers

Long story short, Aib had the opportunity to audition in front of the judges Anang Hermansyah, Judika, Maia Estianty, and Ari Lasso. However, before meeting the judges, Aib was blocked by the building security officers.

"When it was my turn to enter, the security guard scolded me, 'Why are you auditioning wearing only underwear, very disrespectful,' and the others laughed. Finally, I put on a jacket first and then took it off again, and thankfully I was called for the first judging," he said.

2. Went Viral

Aib's appearance wearing underwear combined with jeans ala Freddie Mercury successfully caught the attention of the judges and entertained them. In fact, Aib's audition video went viral and was watched by over 4 million YouTube users.

However, unfortunately, Aib did not pass the audition. Nevertheless, he never gives up on pursuing his dream as a singer. Now, he has been able to break into the music industry under the auspices of the SPMS Entertainment label. His debut single as a singer is titled Berlari dan Berlutut.
