"I am half Australian, half Indonesian. After being born in Australia, I lived in Bali for a few years with my parents until they separated. Then I moved to Jakarta for a few years. Then I moved to Sumba," recalled Hamish.

"At that time, there were no stores, no supermarkets there. So when I was hungry, I had to go find food myself. So I really had to live with the earth and the sea for about 5 years until my mother found out that I wasn't going to school, but instead living as a jungle child," he added.
