Has Vanessa Angel Been Released from Pondok Bambu Prison?

Kapanlagi.com - Vanessa Angel today, Friday (18/12/2020), officially came out of Pondok Bambu Prison. This news came from the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Directorate General of Corrections, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Rika Aprianti.

However, Rita emphasized that Vanessa's release from Pondok Bambu Prison does not mean she is free. "It's not the term 'free'. So she is undergoing assimilation at home based on Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 10 of 2020, regarding the prevention and handling of COVID-19 in correctional facilities," said Rika when contacted on Friday (18/12/2020).

1. Undergo Assimilation

According to Rika, Vanessa Angel still has to undergo the remaining period of detention until February 2021. "So she is still serving it but outside (the prison). She's just at home, not allowed to travel," she said.

During the period of detention at home, Vanessa Angel is not allowed to commit any violations. "During that time, she is not allowed to commit any violations, let alone criminal acts. If there are any violations, her assimilation will be revoked. If she commits a criminal offense, there will certainly be a new punishment," said Rika.

2. Vanessa's Case

As known, Vanessa Angel was sentenced by the West Jakarta District Court to 3 months in prison and a fine of IDR 10 million, with a substitute of 1 month in prison, for being proven guilty of violating Article 62 of the Indonesian Law No. 5 of 1997 concerning Psychotropic Substances.

Vanessa officially became a prisoner at Pondok Bambu Detention Center, East Jakarta, since November 18, 2020.
