House Looted and Defamed, Does Uya Kuya Regret Being a Member of the DPR? Here is His Firm Answer

Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives and senior artist, Uya Kuya, has recently come under sharp public scrutiny after being hit by a massive defamation campaign. He is accused of having 750 kitchens for the Free Nutritious Food program (MBG), a narrative that has spread widely on platforms like Threads, X, and TikTok.

This is not the first time Uya has been harmed by fake news. Previously, in August, his private home was even looted by a mob due to provocation from a hoax video fabricated by irresponsible parties. This series of bitter events raises a big question: does he regret entering the world of politics? Here are the details.

Uya acknowledges that his family, especially his child, Cinta Kuya, feels very worried and sad to see the condition of their father who is continuously attacked. Cinta even suggested that her father should not be too vocal in carrying out his duties as a people's representative in Senayan.

"Cinta once said, 'Dad, you don't need to be too vocal anymore.' But this is my life path and I have decided to dive in and defend the people. I always tell my kids, 'Just consider this a sacrifice.' I thought the incident of the house being looted was over, but then there were crazy slanders again. That's why I reported it," said Uya Kuya when met at the Indonesian Parliament building on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

The family's sadness is indeed justified. The impact of the hoaxes that were allowed to persist has resulted in very large material losses. The house that Uya built from his hard work over the years in the entertainment industry had to be destroyed and his belongings were taken by the looters.

"Sad love, of course. Because they experienced what happened to our family in August due to the circulation of hoax videos," he said.

"My old video on TikTok was stitched together, as if I was insulting the community. In fact, I never said such a thing. But the mistake was that in August, I just stayed silent. I think it's cruel, these kinds of people are tyrannical, evil," Uya added.

Even though he has to swallow bitter pills repeatedly, Uya Kuya emphasizes that feelings of regret will not make him stop. He actually feels that these smear attacks are proof that his presence as a politician is starting to be taken into account by certain parties.

"But I'm comforted by this, that when you are attacked by people, slandered by people, it means you are being taken into account. And I am also confused, this happened just a few days after I was appointed as the Chairman of DPW PAN DKI Jakarta. It's already being tried like this. But it's okay, this is a trial," he continued.

For Uya, the latest slander about owning 750 MBG kitchens is something that does not make sense if thought about with a healthy logic. However, he still reported it to the police to give a deterrent effect to those spreading false news so that the incident of looting houses does not happen again.

"This does not discourage me from continuing to speak out, defending the people, to carry out my duties as a member of the DPR. I will not back down," Uya Kuya asserted.
