Ichel Pushes for Immediate DNA Test for the Child

Ichel once again attended the call of the investigators at the Polri Hospital Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Thursday (13/8). Her presence is related to the report of alleged sexual violence against Anrez Adelio. She attended accompanied by her legal counsel, Adlina Bakhri, to undergo a series of examinations that are still ongoing.

"Oh yes, a confirmation from our client in preparation for forensic psychiatry," said Adlina Bakhri when met at the Polri Hospital Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

In this agenda, Ichel was asked to explain the chronology of the case from the beginning of the pregnancy to the current condition. She mentioned that the examination that day was still in the form of an interview.

"If earlier today the agenda was just an interview regarding the first case, so I told the chronology again from the beginning of the pregnancy until now, like that," said Ichel.

1. Ichel's Hope for the Child's DNA Test

In the midst of the examination process, Ichel expressed the desire for a DNA test on her child to be conducted promptly. She responded to Anrez's statement, which she felt questioned the biological relationship with the child.

"So our purpose in coming here, besides responding to the summons from the police, from the investigator, is actually I want to, what is it, clarify the statement that Anrez said, 'I have carried the child, indeed I have kissed the child but I don't know whose child it is.' So here, hopefully, with this case proceeding, God willing, after this there will be a DNA test," said Ichel.

Ichel hopes the DNA test will provide certainty and answer the statements circulating in the public. She emphasized that they are looking forward to the examination to objectively prove the child's status.

"And we are very much waiting for the news out there, the slanders out there to be proven with the existence of this test," she stated.

2. The Lawyer's Stance and Further Legal Options

Ichel's lawyer stated that they have no objections if a DNA test is conducted as part of the legal process. They mentioned being ready to cooperate if there is attention from the investigators of the Metro Jaya Police for the implementation of the examination.

"Yes. We are very cooperative if the investigators of the Metro Jaya Police give attention to conducting the DNA test, we are very coordinated for that," said Adlina.

Adlina added that other legal steps are also being considered to obtain certainty regarding the DNA test. One possibility is to file a lawsuit for a DNA test in court.

"Yes, we will continue to follow the directions from the Police, which is 14 times back and forth to this hospital with witness stages, and there is also the possibility that I will file a DNA test lawsuit in court," said Adlina.

She explained that the series of examinations are not yet complete. Several witnesses will be presented, including from Ichel's family, to provide statements regarding her condition.

"So I explain, our presence here is to fulfill the summons where there are 14 meetings, where we will bring witnesses from Ichel, and there will also definitely be family members who directly observe the psychological condition of the client," she said.

3. Ichel's Condition Amid Legal Proceedings

Going through a lengthy legal procedure is acknowledged to be exhausting for Ichel, especially as she is now taking care of a baby. Nevertheless, she is grateful that the case is still ongoing.

"From my personal perspective, this is really tiring. I mean, it's the time for me to take care of a baby. But, thank God this case is still progressing and is being followed up. This means there are still things that need to be investigated, or there are still things that need to be uncovered," Ichel said.

Ichel reiterated her hope that a DNA test can be conducted soon, in order to expedite clarity on the circulating issues. She concluded her statement with an encouragement to speed up the examination.

"The sooner, the better," Ichel concluded.
