Ammar Zoni's Instagram account, which has 8.4 million followers, is no longer under his control. Ammar's lawyer, Jon Mathias, revealed that the account changed hands about 10 months ago. "As for Ammar's IG, it has been sold for a long time, if I'm not mistaken, as far as I remember, it's been almost 10 months," said Jon Mathias when contacted by reporters on Thursday (24/10/2024).
With a large number of followers, Ammar's Instagram account is estimated to have been sold for a substantial amount. Ammar Zoni himself once estimated that the account could fetch between Rp2 to Rp3 billion. However, Jon Mathias was unwilling to disclose the exact amount due to his client's privacy. “As for that, it's private; I won't disclose the value because it's Ammar's trust, but the value is indeed fantastic,” he revealed.
When asked about the use of the money from the sale of the account, Jon Mathias emphasized that the management of those funds is entirely Ammar's responsibility. His party is not involved in the decision-making regarding the use of the money, and there are no specific rules governing its utilization. "We don't mix it like that; there’s no obligation to give this or that. Because in the transaction, we also don’t need to know either," Jon Mathias continued.
Jon Mathias also explained that he was not aware of the technical details of the account sale. What is most important, according to him, is that the transaction runs smoothly and the funds are received directly by Ammar Zoni. "What matters is the transaction. Yes, the admin must ensure, the payment goes into Amar's pocket. So he sold it at that time when he talked to us. I want to sell this Instagram," said Jon.
Jon Mathias emphasized that Ammar's purpose in selling this Instagram account is not solely about financial needs. Especially since he is currently in detention due to a drug case. "Instagram is for publicizing his life, while in detention he cannot hold a phone. Then secondly, because there are no activities, the Instagram admin has no work either, no endorsements coming in," he said.
"Thirdly, maybe he also needs money for his daily expenses later and the selling price is not to be taken lightly," he concluded.
