Australian actress Cate Blanchett received the Donostia Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain on Saturday, September 21, 2024. This award is given in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the film industry.

According to a report from Hollywood Reporter quoted by Antara, Cate Blanchett is widely recognized for her roles in famous films such as THE AVIATOR, the THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, and her latest film titled TAR, which received an Oscar nomination.

This award adds to Cate Blanchett's list of achievements as one of the leading actresses in the international film industry, reflecting her extraordinary dedication and talent.

Cate Blanchett was born in Melbourne, Australia, on May 14, 1969. She first appeared with the Sydney Theatre Company in the play TOP GIRLS by Caryl Churchill and KAFKA DANCES by Timothy Daly. In 1993, she appeared in the film OLEANNA alongside Geoffrey Rush, playing the role of a student.

Her television debut occurred in the same year, in 1993. She soon landed a leading role in the miniseries HEARTLAND (1994) and BORDERTOWN (1995).

Cate Blanchett then transitioned to feature films with PARADISE ROAD (1997), a historical drama depicting the Japanese war in World War II. After that film, her name became increasingly recognized due to two other films.

She starred in THANK GOD HE MET LIZZIE (1997), which was later released under the title THE WEDDING PARTY, and OSCAR AND LUCINDA (1997), where she played a rebellious heir alienated from Australian society.
