Involved in the Silent Black and White Film 'SAMSARA', Aryo Bayu: I Feel Alive as an Actor

Kapanlagi.com - Actor Ario Bayu is involved in a black and white silent film titled SAMSARA directed by Garin Nugroho. In this film, the 39-year-old actor feels happy to have the opportunity to appear in a silent film without dialogue.

In the film Samsara, Ario Bayu acts alongside Juliet Widyasari Burnett, an Indonesian-Australian ballet dancer. The film SAMSARA takes place in Bali in the 1930s.

"But from the perspective of an actor, I rarely get the opportunity to feel alive again," said Ario Bayu in a press conference at Flix Cinema Astha, Central Jakarta, on Friday (31/5/2024).

"I was born from the theater where the stage has a different artistic texture," he added.

Ario Bayu said, this is the opportunity he has been waiting for as an actor. In the past, when he was growing up in the theater world, he often encountered this opportunity.

"This is an opportunity for me where sometimes in an industry we experience such cycles where boredom sometimes occurs and here I feel alive again," he said.

2. Ario Bayu Becomes Executive Producer

In addition to being an actor, in the movie SAMSARA, Ario Bayu is also appointed as an executive producer.

"Maybe behind the scenes it's more about Bu Gita and Mas Aldo (Samsara film producers) who truly become the two engines behind the birth of this film," concluded Ario Bayu.

3. A Man Makes an Agreement with the Monkey King

The film SAMSARA tells the story of a man from a poor family whose marriage proposal is rejected by the wealthy parents of the woman he loves. The man then makes a secret pact with the Monkey King and performs dark rituals to obtain wealth.

However, in the process, the ritual actually causes suffering.
Samsara combines many elements of traditional Balinese performances such as gamelan orchestras, traditional dances, masks, and puppetry, combined with digital electronic music as well as contemporary dance and masks.
