Ira Swara's House Flooded Up to the Calves, Electronics Almost Damaged

Senior singer Ira Swara has just experienced a rather shocking disaster at her residence in the Tanjung Priok area, North Jakarta. For the first time since living in that house, she had to experience water entering the room.

The extreme weather with heavy rain from early morning until noon was the main cause of the flooding in their neighborhood. Ira Swara recounted that she was not well-prepared for the flood because for the past two years living there, the area had always been safe.

As a result, many items placed on the lower floor were submerged in water. He had to act quickly with his family to save their belongings as the water began to rise in the morning.

"We have never experienced a flood before, this is the first time. So we actually live in Tanjung Priok, this is my husband's small house, we have moved around a lot. We just returned to Priok about the last two years. This is really the first time water has entered the house," said Ira Swara in the Warung Buncit area, South Jakarta, Monday (19/1/2026).

Her daughter, Yunia Syahrie, added that the water level varies in every corner of the house. The most affected areas are the front and the living room. Some of her beloved items, including musical instruments, were nearly severely damaged if they had not been evacuated to higher ground immediately. Fortunately, the water rise occurred gradually, so they still had time to pack.

"Up to the calf, some to the ankle, some a bit higher. My room is at the front on the same level as the living room, and it is also calf-high. So my things, including my guitar, got a bit soaked, but I managed to save them. Because the water rose slowly," said Yunia Syahrie.

Even though the water submerged several spots, Ira is grateful that the material losses her family experienced were not too significant. Most of the affected items were just household supplies stored in plastic containers and suitcases. Nevertheless, she is now starting to increase her vigilance, especially for electronic items, to prevent similar incidents from causing significant losses in the future.

"Yes, electronic items were mostly secured. The material loss isn't severe, thank God. I'm just resigned to it, because coincidentally the water was off not from the water company but due to a short circuit, so it was confusing to clean up. We only started cleaning up when the water was back on," said Ira Swara.

Now, Ira Swara's house condition has returned to normal after a cleanup effort with all family members. Although she felt confused during the cleaning process due to issues with water and electricity supply, she feels relieved that this disaster could still be handled by themselves without needing evacuation assistance from outside parties."No, thank God it wasn't that severe. We could still handle it ourselves," concluded Ira Swara.
