When met in the Kebayoran area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (4/2/2025), Ivan revealed his reasons for choosing the Middle East as his dream place to live and work in the future.

"Oh no, I don't know where I will live yet. When a person has dreams, they should be far-reaching. At the very least, I want to be a global citizen, able to live anywhere and work from anywhere. So, yes, preparing for life, learning languages might not be fluent yet, but at least I can communicate," said Ivan.

The choice to settle in Dubai is not without reason. Besides being known as a modern city with a dynamic lifestyle, Dubai is also considered one of the world's fashion industry hubs. Ivan sees this city as a great opportunity to develop his work on the international stage.

"The fashion industry is not only in Europe or America, Dubai is also like a gateway for us to explore our work there," explained the man commonly known as Igun.

His desire to move grew stronger after experiencing a spiritual journey while performing Umrah. Although there was no specific experience that triggered this plan, Ivan felt attracted to the increasingly modern and friendly life for creative workers in the Middle East.

“There was no experience during Umrah that made me want to move. It's just a desire. I've always really wanted to live in Dubai. Maybe I could live in Jeddah or Riyadh or Dubai. Basically, I want to be in the Middle East,” Ivan added.

Ivan also shared stories about his enjoyable experience while performing Umrah recently. According to him, the journey was relaxed and meaningful, where he could perform worship while enjoying the warm atmosphere with his group.

"There are no difficulties because the umrah is relaxed, so we have our jokes and serious moments. So like earlier, I learned there was a language I didn’t want to know, so I changed the language, like earlier, 'Igun wants to go to the hospital,' 'no way, I don’t want to go to the hospital, I want to go to a restaurant, I want to go to the mall.' I was joking like that, so the 2 hours earlier didn’t feel like anything," he said while laughing.

In addition to spiritual and career reasons, Ivan also admitted that he is preparing himself personally to live abroad. He recently started learning Arabic as part of the initial steps to adapt to Middle Eastern culture.
