Jarwo Kwat Sends a Message to Komeng After Being Inaugurated as a Member of the DPD RI: Don't Corrupt

"We are proud as comedy artists (to see Komeng in the DPD). Especially with a friend who has been around for a long time, and if he wants to make a career in politics, that's fine. And just make sure we do our job right, no corruption," said Jarwo when contacted by the media on Tuesday (3/9/2024).

In addition to expressing pride, Jarwo also conveyed a message to Komeng to remain trustworthy in carrying out his duties in the DPD. He emphasized the importance of listening to the aspirations of the people, even though he acknowledged that Komeng's position does not have the authority to make decisions.

"Just fulfill the promises made during the campaign, because the DPD only proposes and gives advice, they do not have the right to decide," said Jarwo.

Jarwo also hopes that DPD members can have rights and obligations that are equal to other high state institutions, such as the DPR. According to him, DPD members should be able to bring aspirations from their electoral districts more effectively.

"The DPR might also be limited, always going to their own regions, that could be the DPD members, their authority could be even greater for the 2024 period and beyond. So, don’t just be a provider of suggestions," said Jarwo. His hope is that the DPD can perform its functions more optimally in the future.

In this context, the existence of the DPD is expected to provide significant contributions to regional development and representation. Komeng, as one of the new members, is expected to bridge the aspirations of the people with the proposed policies.
