Jennifer Jill, Ajun Perwira's Wife, Sentenced to 6 Months in Prison and 3 Months of Rehabilitation

Kapanlagi.com - The drug abuse case involving defendant Jennifer Jill was once again held at the West Jakarta District Court with the agenda of reading the indictment from the Public Prosecutor (JPU), Monday (26/7/2021).

In the trial, the JPU asked the Judge to sentence the wife of actor Ajun Perwira to 6 months in prison for being proven guilty of violating Article 127 paragraph 1 (a) of the Indonesian Law No. 35 of 2009.

"Imposing a sentence on Jennifer Jill Armand Supit with a prison sentence of 6 months, reduced by the period of arrest and detention that the defendant has undergone from the imposed sentence," said the JPU in the courtroom.

Since only Article 127 fulfills the elements, the JPU also requested the judge to order Jennifer Jill to undergo 3 months of rehabilitation.

"Ordering the defendant to undergo inpatient medical rehabilitation at the Lido Rehabilitation Center for 3 months, reduced by the defendant's rehabilitation period during the investigation, in accordance with letter number B12/II/2021 dated February 26, 2021 issued by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Indonesia, handled by Dr. Yosi Eka Putri," the JPU said.

1. Lighter Demands

This demand is much lighter than the prosecutor's indictment. Previously, Jennifer was charged with multiple articles, namely Article 112 and Article 127 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, with a minimum criminal penalty of 4 years and a maximum of 12 years imprisonment and a fine of Rp 800 million to Rp 8 billion.

As known, Jennifer Jill was arrested by the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit on Tuesday (16/2/2021). From the arrest, the police seized evidence of 0.39 grams of methamphetamine and a used pipette known to belong to Jennifer Jill.

Jennifer had previously undergone rehabilitation at the BNN Lido, but it was interrupted. Then she was detained at the Metro Jaya Police Detention Center. According to Jennifer's legal representative, Sahala Siahaan, during her detention, Jennifer's health deteriorated.

"Well, her condition is not better. She hopes to continue rehabilitation to recover her health and addiction. That's her hope. There is an addictive substance problem, but the severity of it, she's trying to fight. That's why the only way is rehabilitation. It's the best for her," he said.
