Jessica Iskandar Was Hospitalized Due to Raw Food

Unpleasant news comes from Jessica Iskandar, who had to be rushed to the hospital some time ago. The health condition of Vincent Verhaag's wife drastically declined after returning from a vacation. Vincent revealed that the main cause of his wife's illness was due to consuming the wrong food, which resulted in a bacterial and viral attack.

Initially, Jedar experienced a high fever that did not subside for several consecutive days. Vincent, who was starting to worry, finally took decisive action to take his wife to the hospital for more intensive medical care after seeing Jedar's condition weakening.

"It was because of eating the wrong food, so it was like her immune system just dropped. She was exhausted from vacationing with the kids, but everything was still stable. Maybe she ate something wrong, and that's when the virus and bacteria got in," said Vincent Verhaag when met in the Darmawangsa area, South Jakarta, on Friday (27/3/2026).

"She dropped, initially on the first night she had a fever, the second, third still had a fever. We waited until the fourth and she still had a fever. That’s when I decided to go to the hospital. Fortunately, we checked, got medicine, got an IV, but everything was already safe and smooth, she has recovered," he added.

Vincent strongly suspects that the raw food consumed by Jedar was the main trigger. Before falling ill, Jedar mentioned that she had just eaten raw seafood. Not long after that, initial symptoms like nausea and vomiting began to appear, culminating in a high fever that lasted quite a while.

"No, it’s definitely a virus bacteria. What’s it called inside? Yes, virus, bacteria. From oral means food, if not drinks usually, but my feeling is food because he also said he had raw food, namely a sashimi platter which is all raw fish. He had that two days before. At first, there was nausea and vomiting, but after that, he had a fever continuously up to 38, 38.9. Quite high," he explained.

Jedar struggled against the fever for more than a week. While in the hospital, Jedar received various medical treatments ranging from intravenous fluids to antibiotics to kill the bacteria in his body.

"How many days did he have a fever, 7 or 8 days the fever didn’t stop. Finally went to the hospital, intravenous, medication, antibiotics too. By the 10th or 11th day, he was getting better, then on the 14th or 13th day he left for Singapore. Just went for it," Vincent continued.

After the incident, Vincent is now more protective and has set strict limits on the types of food his wife can consume. He forbids Jedar from eating food that is not cooked thoroughly to prevent a similar incident from happening again.

"I would say, we both know, I told her to avoid raw foods like sashimi, sushi, just avoid those for now. If not, then the meats that are half-cooked, like steaks, I said to stick to the well-cooked ones, the ones that are definitely safe for now. That's it. But so far, it's safe, all good," he concluded.
