Joko Anwar Enjoys Graveyard Photography, Not Only Used as a Place to Write Scripts

Of course, Joko doesn't just visit any graveyard. This man from Medan chooses a nice and comfortable place to use so that ideas flow freely.

"So I write in the graveyard, but the graveyard also has to be nice. It's okay to do it at night, at that time I was writing the dialogue for PENGABDI SETAN there," Joko said as quoted during a live session on Instagram Cinema XXI, Friday (3/7/2020).

1. Writing at the Museum

In addition to cemetery areas, Joko Anwar also enjoys writing scripts at the museum. Just like when he is at the cemetery, the tranquility of the museum also enables him to write scene by scene.

"Two places that I like the most because they are very peaceful are the museum and the cemetery. I finished writing the film GUNDALA at a museum in Amsterdam," said the 44-year-old director.

2. Photos of Cemeteries in Many Countries

Not only writing at the cemetery, it turns out that Joko Anwar has a special interest in final resting places. Every time he visits cities in various countries, he makes sure to visit cemeteries to take photos.

"The cemetery is one of the places I like the most. So when I go to any city abroad, the first thing I do is check out the cemetery and the museum. And when I go to the cemetery, I take photos and collect them. Now I have a lot of photo collections of cemeteries in many countries. I originally wanted to create a photo exhibition called Hope, but I haven't been able to do it yet," he added.
