Marcell Darwin Speaks Frankly About His Decision to Convert to Islam, Not Because of Force

Marcell himself tends to be very private about the path he has chosen, even though many people ask and are curious. In one of the latest video content on The Darwins' Youtube channel, the 29-year-old man finally started to open up about it.

"Until now, I don't know why (I converted to Islam). I don't know if this is what they call a calling, but I don't feel called or anything. I did think, or maybe this is the path I'm supposed to take to convert. So I can't deny it or avoid it," said Marcell as quoted by KapanLagi.com from The Darwins' Youtube channel.

Previously, many speculated that Marcell converted to Islam in order to marry Nabila, who is a Muslim. However, this news was firmly denied by Marcell.

"No one forced me to convert, including Nabila. Suddenly, it's like I said, 'Darling, I want to be your imam and the head of our family'. That's why I said here, Nabila herself was surprised when I said I wanted to convert," recalled the actor from the movie NIKAH YUK?.

2. Nabila Doesn't Want Her Religion to be Played With

Nabila, the wife, also agreed with Marcell's statement. Because the woman who will soon give birth does not want her religion to be played with just for the sake of love.

"I told him myself, 'Are you sure about this?'. I don't want my religion to be played with. So I don't want someone to convert to my religion just to marry me or for formality. Why? I prefer accepting you as Marcell Darwin with your previous religion but someone who has a strong faith, rather than just a formality. I don't want it at all. So I repeatedly said, 'You should think about it first, is this the best decision or not?'," said Nabila, who is currently heavily pregnant.
