JPU Reads the Indictment, Putra Siregar and Rico Valentino's Lawyers Highlight the Results of the Visum

Kapanlagi.com - Putra Siregar and Rico Valentino underwent their first trial as defendants in the alleged assault case against Muhammad Nur Alamsyah.

From observations, both defendants were presented virtually in the trial held at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (23/6/2022).

In the courtroom, there were only the judges, the Public Prosecutor (JPU), and the defendants' lawyers.

1. JPU Describes the Chronology of the Assault

In the trial for reading the indictment, the JPU described the chronology of the assault. After that, they charged Putra Siregar and Rico Valentino with violating Article 170 of the assault and battery law, namely paragraph (1), and/or Article 351 jo. Article 55.

"Rico Valentino and Putra Siregar are charged with Article 170 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code, or Article 351 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 of the Criminal Code," said the JPU.

After the JPU read the indictment, the defendants' legal counsel, Nur Wafiq Warodat, stated that they would not object or make an exception to the prosecutor's indictment.

2. Choose a Direct Trial

He chose a direct trial to delve into the substance of the case so that he could prove that his client was not entirely guilty as charged by the JPU.

"We request that direct evidence be presented to prove the material charges, whether they are proven or not," he said after the trial.

"In principle, there are parts that are not true, and it is impossible for us to deny them one by one because there is a forum, we will test it in the evidence," he continued.

3. Results of the Victim's Visum

In the upcoming trial, one of the things that Putra Siregar and Rico Valentino's lawyers will question is the victim's autopsy results.

"In the indictment, it was read that the autopsy results showed swelling in the right corner of the victim's lips. However, regarding the extent and severity, we have not seen the evidence yet," said Nur Wafiq Warodat.

4. Not in a Hurry

Unfortunately, Wafiq does not want to reveal too much too soon. He wants to reveal it in court.

"Please be patient, friends. We do not want to preempt the trial process. We will see it in the trial, because we have not yet gained access to the autopsy results," he said.

5. Assault Case

As is known, the alleged assault case by Putra Siregar and Rico Valentino against Muhammad Nur Alamsyah occurred at a cafe in the Senopati area, South Jakarta, on March 2, 2022.

This alleged assault began when Chandrika Chika, who was also at the same cafe as Putra Siregar and Rico Valentino, approached the victim's table.

6. Assaulted the Victim

Based on surveillance camera footage at the cafe, shortly after Chika, Rico followed and hit the victim.

Then, Putra Siregar also committed violence by pushing and kicking the victim.
