Keke is not a Trending Doll Number 1 on YouTube, Kekeyi: There is Happiness, But Also a Sad Story

The song, which was released on Friday (28/5), also caught attention due to its similarity in title and some parts with the song I am not a Doll popularized by Rinni Wulandari in 2007.

Kekeyi admitted that she has mixed feelings about her debut song going viral. In a virtual interview via video call with Anji, Kekeyi shared the story of the making of her own song and how it went viral, causing conflicts.

"There is happiness, but there is also a sad story," said Kekeyi as quoted from the YouTube channel dunia MANJI.

1. The Beginning of Song Creation

Keke is Not a Doll turned out to be inspired by Kekeyi's love story with her ex-boyfriend, Rio Ramadhan. This series of confessions was then composed into a song and eventually entered the recording studio where Kekeyi learned to play musical instruments.

"When I was creating that song, it was because of my ex-boyfriend, you know, 'you are not a doll, what is this?' like that. It's like teasing each other, you know. What if I make it into a poem or words like that, a song. And then after that, I made the words when I was in the studio, you know, I used to take ukulele lessons. I took ukulele lessons and then after that, an arrangement was made and yeah, a song was created. It became a song, like that.

2. Didn't Know It Was Similar

Kekeyi admitted that she had no idea about the similarities between her debut music and a song created by Novi Umar before this issue was widely discussed on social media. This beauty vlogger from Nganjuk said she was surprised after finding out about the news about herself appearing everywhere.

"I didn't know if it was almost similar, I really didn't know. Why suddenly like that, honestly, I didn't know. But if I made a mistake, I apologize, that's it.

3. Apology from Kekeyi

Kekeyi also emphasizes that she has no ill intentions towards anyone with the release of the song Keke Bukan Boneka. Therefore, the owner of the full name Rahmawati Kekeyi Putri Cantika apologizes if there are parties who feel disadvantaged by her actions.

"I sincerely apologize, I didn't have any bad intentions or anything like taking someone else's song or anything like that, I didn't take someone else's copyright. I just had the intention to make a song and I really didn't know that the song was the same, like that.
