Kapanlagi.com - A major collaboration comes from two renowned Japanese musicians, Kenshi Yonezu and Hikaru Utada. They officially released a song titled JANE DOE on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. This song has been chosen as the ending theme for the film CHAINSAW MAN - THE MOVIE: REZE ARC.
This announcement immediately caught the attention of anime and music fans. Yonezu previously succeeded with Kick Back as the opening for CHAINSAW MAN. Now, his collaboration with Utada further increases enthusiasm ahead of the film's release.

The song JANE DOE was written and composed by Kenshi Yonezu, with additional production from Yaffle, before finally being sung together with Hikaru Utada. This collaboration is special because Yonezu had previously contributed to CHAINSAW MAN with the song Kick Back, while Utada is widely known for her iconic works in the Japanese music world.
Quoted from The Outerhaven in an interview, Yonezu explained that he initially wrote the song without thinking about who would sing it, but then felt that Utada was the most suitable person to perform it. "As the song took shape, it became clear that no one else was more fitting than Utada," he said. Meanwhile, Utada added that this collaboration felt both challenging and enjoyable because both are singer-songwriters who are reluctant to compromise on their styles.
JANE DOE also comes with a music video directed by Tomokazu Yamada. The director described this collaboration as a "galactic collision" that illustrates the gravitational pull between two major stars in the universe of Japanese music. The MV was released on September 23, 2025, and has already been viewed over 1.6 million times on YouTube.

CHAINSAW MAN - THE MOVIE: REZE ARC is an adaptation of the BOMB GIRL arc in the manga. The production company MAPPA chose a film format instead of directly creating a second season to reach a wider audience and promote a meaningful cinematic experience. Many fans feel that the REZE arc is one of the most emotional parts with intense conflict.
As the ending theme, JANE DOE is positioned to enhance the emotional atmosphere and tragedy in Reze's story and her complex relationship with Denji. There has been a lot of positive feedback from fans regarding this song, especially due to the involvement of Hikaru Utada.
Some early box office reviews show that the film started earning 420 million yen (approximately Rp 46.6 billion) on its opening day in Japan. Since this anime carries high expectations and has a loyal fan base, many predict that JANE DOE will help increase its appeal even beyond the core fanbase.
