Learning from Experience, Ashanty No Longer Wants to Collaborate and Wants to Run Her Own Business

The closure of the Lumier cake business became a valuable lesson for Ashanty. After various considerations, the wife of Anang Hermansyah emphasized that in the future, she only wants to run her business alone without collaborating with others.

This decision stems from her very idealistic character, especially in maintaining product quality. The singer of 'Aku Bukan Untukmu' feels that her vision and mission often struggle to align with business partners who are more profit-oriented.

"Basically, if I sell again in the future, I don’t want to collaborate. I just want to do my work myself," asserted Ashanty when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta (31/7/2025).

He realizes that as an artist, his perspective on business is different from that of a typical entrepreneur. For him, quality is number one, and he is reluctant to sell products at excessively high prices, a principle that is sometimes difficult to accept in a partnership.

"The point is, because I'm not, I feel like I'm an idealistic person first, and maybe because I'm an artist, not a pure entrepreneur, you know. So for me, quality is number one. And when selling, I don't want it to be too expensive," he explained.

The difference in vision and mission is the root of the problem. Nevertheless, Ashanty does not blame his business partner at all, as he understands that every entrepreneur has reasonable considerations.

"If I collaborate with someone, I'm afraid we might have different visions and missions. But if individuals, including businesspeople, have different visions and missions, that's definitely normal, right? So, we can't blame anyone," she said.

Interestingly, Ashanty revealed that her partner at Lumier is a very good person and they do not have personal conflicts. In fact, it was her partner who encouraged her to start her own business because he saw how firmly Ashanty holds her principles."My partner is incredibly kind. It's just that we don't share the same vision and mission. And he was the one who said, 'San, you should do business on your own because you're very idealistic and you want things your way,'" she recalled.

Her partner realizes how 'rigid' she can be when it comes to quality and recipes, which are difficult to change or adjust. Based on this experience, Ashanty is determined not to seek investors or partners if she builds a culinary business again in the future.

"Basically, the person is very strict when it comes to things, you know. So, if someday I start a business again, it has to be by myself, you know," she concluded.
