List of Artists Rejecting the Glorification of Saipul Jamil, including Director Angga Sasongko who Stops Collaborating with the Related TV Station

Not only that, netizens are increasingly angry with several TV stations that still invite Saipul Jamil to reality shows. This has led some public figures to speak out and criticize the TV stations for not respecting the victims.

Starting from creating a petition to boycott Saipul Jamil appearing on TV stations, to several artists who refuse to collaborate as long as the former husband of Dewi Perssik is still being broadcasted. Here is a list of artists who refuse Saiful Jamil and their criticisms.

1. Najwa Shihab

Journalist and presenter, Najwa Shihab, highlights the return of Saipul Jamil, which is currently trending. In her Instagram post, she titled it 'Glorification and the Danger of Normalizing Sexual Violence.'

She criticizes that this can become a 'normalization' phenomenon of sexual violence against the two teenagers he abused. Moreover, according to her, this will make the perpetrator not repent and not feel ashamed to appear in public.

"What's even more dangerous is that people may no longer feel ashamed when committing sexual violence. In addition, this behavior can also make people feel 'normal' when seeing perpetrators of sexual violence," Najwa wrote in her Instagram post. 

2. Arie Kriting

Saipul Jamil's appearance on television also sparked criticism from Arie Kriting. The comedian and actor firmly stated that he will not collaborate with the TV station that still features the man often called 'Bang Ipul'.

Even in his latest post, a journalist from the TV station who requested permission to use a video clip for a supporting program, Arie firmly rejected. He is unwilling to allow the content of the TV show that still features Saipul Jamil to use any of his works or images.

He conveyed his criticism through a video that he uploaded on his Instagram account. He reiterated that it is his way of opposing pedophilia and violence against underage children. 

3. Ernest Prakasa

Openly, the film star and director of CEK TOKO SEBELAH throws a jab at the phenomenon of Saipul Jamil's return. He also comments on the broadcasting watchdog's actions towards the TV station that glorifies Saipul Jamil.

"What foul smell is this? Oh, it turns out to be the stench of the TV station's dead conscience, treating a former sexual offender like a hero," he writes on his personal Twitter account, @ernestprakasa.

Not long after, he uploads a video on his Instagram account and expresses appreciation for the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission's decision to finally ban the glorification of Saipul Jamil on television.

4. Hesti Purwadinata

Comedian and beautiful presenter, Hesti Purwadinata also voiced her rejection of Saipul Jamil. She firmly stated that she does not want the show she hosts to invite or feature Saipul Jamil. She conveyed her statement through her twitter account.

"From the beginning of his excessive freedom, and suddenly appearing on TV with a dramatic treatment that makes me sick, my personal action is to express my objection to not inviting him to the show where I am present," said Hesti on Monday on her twitter account @hestiprwdinata.

5. Soleh Solihun

Comedian Soleh Solihun also spoke up about Saipul Jamil's freedom to appear on reality TV shows. He intends to report this phenomenon to the broadcasting institution. However, in his tweet, he also expressed his disappointment with the ongoing case at the Indonesian broadcasting institution.

"Want to report to the "institution that oversees broadcasting" about the glorification of an artist who is a former convict of harassment, but it turns out that the institution also allows its employees to commit harassment," he wrote on his twitter account @solehsolihun.

6. Kemal Palevi

Actor and comedian Kemal Palevi also regrets the enthusiastic reception given to Saipul Jamil. Not only that, he also highlights the people who still support and provide space for Saipul Jamil to return to the entertainment world.

Kemal is increasingly saddened by the title created in a reality show that makes Saipul Jamil appear as a victim.

7. Angga Sasongko

The latest on the phenomenon of Saipul Jamil being released, renowned Indonesian director, Angga Dwimas Sasongko, along with Visinema Pictures, firmly stated that they will terminate their collaboration with TV stations that still feature Saipul Jamil in relation to the distribution of the film Nusa and Keluarga Cemara.

According to him, the portrayal of Saipul Jamil does not share the same values as Angga Sasongko's child-friendly work. His statement is meant to support the movement against the celebration of sexual violence perpetrators against children in the media.

"The termination of these agreement discussions applies not only to TV stations that have already aired, but also to other TV stations that will show similar broadcasts in the future. This is our statement. Thank you," wrote Angga Sasongko in a Twitter thread @anggasasongko.
