Lucky Hakim Tells the Moment of Pertamina Indramayu Refinery Fire Incident, Doors and Windows Shaking

Kapanlagi.com - On Monday (29/3) early morning, a massive fire broke out at the Pertamina Refinery Unit (RU) VI Balongan. Until now, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but so far there have been no casualties.

Lucky Hakim, the Deputy Regent of Indramayu, also commented on the incident. According to him, this is not the first time a similar fire has occurred in Indonesia.

"As far as I know, maybe it has happened more than 5 times. When I was a child in Cilacap, it happened, maybe in the early 90s and 1996, about this magnitude," said the former Member of the Indonesian Parliament 2014-2019 for the Bekasi - Depok region through a messaging application.

As is known, Lucky was just inaugurated as the Vice Regent of Indramayu a month ago. Of course, this incident surprised him, especially since he had also passed the location of the fire a few moments before the incident occurred.

"I heard the explosion around midnight, the door and glass windows were shaking, I thought it was lightning, because it had rained heavily last night. In fact, a few minutes earlier, I had passed by there, at 11 o'clock at night from the direction of Cirebon," recalled the 43-year-old man.

2. Residents Take Refuge in the Regent's Hall of Indramayu

From the information gathered at the scene, this incident caused panic among local residents. The sound of loud explosions was heard several times, causing strong vibrations. The fire was so large that the sky above the scene was very bright with a reddish color accompanied by thick black smoke.

Meanwhile, hundreds of residents from Balongan, who are close to the explosion site, have taken refuge in a safer place, including the Regent's Hall of Indramayu.

"Many residents panicked and took refuge, some of them took refuge in the hall and some have returned home after the authorities assured that the fire was being handled and localized so that it would not spread outside. I ask for your prayers that everything will be fine and become a lesson for all of us, especially Pertamina to increase vigilance against unexpected problems," Lucky concluded.
