Luna Maya and Indro Cahyono Explain Controversial Covid-19 Issue, Here's What the Doctor Says

The content then went viral on various social media platforms, attracting the attention of Dr. Berlian Idriansyah Idris, a cardiologist and doctor. He criticized Luna and doctor Indro's explanation due to several inaccuracies.

"Dear @LunaMaya26 & drh. Moh Indro Cahyono, the explanation in this video is wrong and potentially makes people underestimate the risk of being infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19," wrote Dr. Berlian as quoted from his Twitter account @berlianidris.

2. Causes Death

Berlian disagrees with Indro's statement that no patients have died solely because of Covid-19.

"As the name suggests, severe acute respiratory syndrome, this virus causes severe acute respiratory distress due to lung damage, which leads to respiratory failure and even death," he wrote. Berlian also links the total number of deaths due to this virus reaching 496 in Indonesia.

3. Underestimating Too Much

Berlian also considers their explanation about the symptoms experienced during the week to be underestimating too much.

"This is like underestimating the spectrum of symptoms that may be experienced, from asymptomatic to respiratory failure. Many of those who have recovered have reported severe shortness of breath, with the possibility of permanent lung damage," he continued.

4. Criticism of Antibody Explanation

In addition to the symptoms, Berlian also criticized the explanation of antibodies. According to Indro, after two weeks of suffering from Covid-19, patients will become immune to the same virus. Berlian then explained how patients can still test positive for Covid-19 even after recovering.

"The formation of antibodies does not guarantee absolute immunity from re-infection, there have been reports of people testing positive again. In addition, there are more young and healthy patients who have died due to excessive immune system reactions," Berlian continued.

5. Are Most Patients Recovered?

He also questioned Indro's statement about most Covid-19 patients recovering. "If most patients do recover, why is the recovery rate on April 16th reported as 'only' 9.9% of the total confirmed cases?" Berlian wrote.

He also criticized Indro's statement that Covid-19 is not as severe as the media reports, which could make people neglectful. "Even if you don't die, being infected with COVID-19 is painful. If it's not dangerous, then why are there PSBB measures?" he added.

6. Numbers that Can be Saved

In the video, Dr. Indro also said that life is not about numbers and statistics. Berlian focuses on the numbers that can be saved.

"True, because every life is very valuable, we must prevent ourselves from getting infected. COVID-19 is not pleasant, especially if it leads to death," he wrote.

Lastly, Berlian shows his support for Luna and Indro's mission to prevent panic among the public. However, he provides a note.

"Luna emphasizes again that those who died were due to complications, not the coronavirus itself, as confirmed by Dr. Indro. Based on that, Luna concludes that we should not panic.
