Mail Assistant Nikita Mirzani Cornered by Prosecutor's Question About Chat '5M Just to Deal First', Is It True Extortion?

A new chapter in the trial of the alleged extortion and money laundering case involving Nikita Mirzani was held again at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (21/8/2025). This time, the spotlight was on Ismail Marzuki alias Mail, a friend and co-defendant, who sat in the witness chair. The atmosphere in the courtroom heated up as the Public Prosecutor (JPU) grilled him with crucial evidence.

In his testimony, Mail was thoroughly questioned about the origin of the fantastic amount of Rp 5 Billion that is the core of this case. The JPU highlighted the odd timing, where Mail allegedly discussed that figure with Reza Gladys at nearly the same time he reported it to Nikita Mirzani.

The prosecutor's suspicion grew stronger when Mail admitted that he indeed reported the offer to Nikita, and the controversial artist agreed to it. Mail argued that the amount was reasonable for a collaboration of a brand ambassador level.

"Yes, that's right. Yes. Because actually, if you look at the price for a collaboration like that, such as a brand ambassador, it could be more than that for a year. Okay," said Mail.

However, the public prosecutor did not stop there. The prosecutor continued to dig deeper, questioning how there could be a business negotiation if Mail himself admitted that Nikita Mirzani and Reza Gladys did not know each other at all beforehand. This admission seemed to strengthen the suspicion that the figure of Rp 5 billion was not purely a business negotiation.

"No, no. I don't know either," Mail replied when asked if Nikita knew Reza Gladys.

The peak of the prosecutor's questioning occurred when a piece of evidence from a WhatsApp conversation was revealed in front of the panel of judges. In the chat, a sentence allegedly from Nikita directed to Mail was uncovered, which seemed to serve as an instruction.

The prosecutor read the contents of the chat, "On November 14. Earlier you wrote again, 5M to seal the deal first, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will be expensive. Mail knows it very well. This, this is all talk from the defendant. Mail knows it very well, right this is a deal, no need to apologize. Then tell Dicky he already has all the screenshots. Tell him to transfer."

The excerpt from the conversation "5M to seal the deal first" suddenly became the center of attention. That sentence seemed to indicate the existence of a target that needed to be achieved, no longer just a reasonable cooperation offer.
