For over a decade, Irfan Hakim has been enlivening special Ramadan programs on television. He never misses being a presenter for pre-dawn or iftar events.
His active presence in suhoor programs is apparently intentional. And the reason behind it all is touching because it is to be watched by his mother who lives separately in Bandung.
"Seventeen years of marriage, never being at home with the suhoor wife, always working, the wife got used to it," said Irfan when met in the Mampang area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (2024).
"Why did I take the suhoor program, this was done for Mama in Bandung," he continued.
"Because I am far from home, since the 2000s I have been living in Jakarta alone until I got married," said Irfan.
Irfan Hakim uses hosting the suhoor program as a means to bridge the distance between him and his mother. So that the beloved parent does not feel lonely.
"My mother always gathers with her children during suhoor and iftar. If I am on TV, she feels like having suhoor or iftar with her child," said the father of five children.
Every time Irfan Hakim appears on television, it turns out that his mother pays such close attention to detail. It's no wonder that after hosting a show, Irfan often receives comments from his mother.
"He likes to pay attention. For example, 'Fan, his voice is already hoarse'. 'Fan seems to have swollen eyes, probably lack of sleep'. He pays attention to it through my live broadcasts, that's why no matter how sleepy I am, I still work," he said.
