Marry Jessica Mila, Al Ghazali Must Repeat the Marriage Vows

Kapanlagi.com - Al Ghazali and Jessica Mila acted together for the first time in a movie titled CHASING HEAVEN. However, they already knew each other well, so it was not difficult for them to build chemistry. During filming in the Netherlands, they often went out together and confided in each other.

"If this is the first project we did together. We actually already knew each other. In the Netherlands, we often hang out together, often confide in each other, so that's one of our approaches," said Al Ghazali when met at Epicentrum XXI, South Jakarta, Monday (23/5).

"It was fun because I didn't have many shoots there, so I also went to other cities with Mila at that time," he continued.

1. 5 Times Repeating the Marriage Vows Scene

In this movie, they are portrayed as lovers who eventually get married. When doing the marriage vows scene, Al Ghazali was quite difficult because he had never done it before. However, it became a learning experience for him when he will get married later.

"The challenge in the wedding ceremony is because I have never been married before. I learned to take a deep breath. That's one of the lessons. Saying the marriage vows is nerve-wracking because you have to take a breath and it's embarrassing if you have to repeat it, so we practiced beforehand," said Al Ghazali.

Because he was too nervous, he even had to repeat the scene five times. "If I'm not mistaken, it's about five takes, and we have to take a breath. So maybe this is the first time practicing, this is also the first time saying the marriage vows, and there's a camera and director, so I was a little nervous," he continued.

2. Enduring the Cold

In addition, Al Ghazali also revealed another challenge, which was having to endure the cold weather while filming in the Netherlands. Therefore, he had difficulty speaking.

“The challenge was because we were shooting in the winter in the Netherlands, so it was very cold. The problem was in articulation, so the focus was more on the coldness when speaking, which was a bit difficult. Because of the cold, we could wear three layers of clothing there,” he concluded.

3. The Struggle to Find a Father

The film directed by Bambang Drias tells the story of Atikah's (Jessica Mila) struggle to find her father named Hendrik (Jeremy Thomas) who is in the Netherlands. As a Muslim, Atikah hopes that her biological father can be present as a guardian at her wedding to Iqbal (Al Ghazali).

MENGEJAR SURGA is a collaboration between MAXstream and production houses Viera and PT Melon Indonesia. This film will premiere in cinemas starting May 26, 2022.
