This monologue script by Wawan Sofwan will be presented virtually in five episodes that will be aired on Suarahgaloka's Youtube account. The first episode can be watched on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 12:00 PM WIB. In addition to presenting the figure of Bung Karno played directly by Wawan Sofwan, several renowned performing artists are also involved in this performance, such as actress Maudy Koesnaedi (portraying Inggit Garnasih) and Vicky Mono (soundtrack performer).
Vicky Mono, who is also one of the founders of Suarahgaloka, said that the performance "Bung Karno Series: Tomorrow or Not at All" is in line with the mission of Suarahgaloka, which he established with Tjuknur Putro Guritno and Abong Tjokro Bondowoso. Namely, to become a gathering place for Indonesian artists and cultural figures to advance the art and cultural heritage of our ancestors.
"Suarahgaloka is a unifying platform for the nation through art, culture, and creativity in order to preserve modern, traditional, and contemporary art, which aims to become a national-scale presentation," said the vocalist of the band Burgerkill.
The performance "Bung Karno Series: Tomorrow or Not at All" is adapted from a monologue script by director Wawan Sofwan, which tells the story of Bung Karno's process in fighting for Indonesian independence. The story's plot is composed of several fragments that explore Bung Karno's love story in his youth, his exile by the Dutch East Indies Government to suppress Bung Karno's progressive thinking, and the moments leading up to Bung Karno proclaiming Indonesian independence.
“The script Tomorrow or Not at All has gone through a very long process of research and observation. Of course, we hope that the message contained in this performance serves as a reminder to all of us that this nation is a great nation with a long history," said Wawan.
Not only as the scriptwriter, Wawan Sofwan also "takes part" in this performance by playing the role of Bung Karno. Wawan is also a record holder in the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) as the actor and director who has performed the most monologues about Bung Karno. Since 2002, Wawan has been involved in 85 monologue performances of Bung Karno's speeches. In addition to Wawan, senior actress Maudy Koesnaedi also takes part in portraying Inggit Ganarsih.
For Maudy Koesnaedi, playing Inggit Garnasih is like reliving memories when she played the same character in a film about Bung Karno eight years ago. But this time it's a new challenge for Maudy because of the different stage.
“The difference is, because this is a theater performance, I have to be more expressive and maximum in portraying the character of Inggit. Hopefully it can be enjoyed and appreciated by the audience,” said Maudy.
In addition to the music and soundtrack line produced by Vicky Mono, in order to create a theatrical performance with a strong storyline and visual, this performance also collaborates with Postco. Cinema for filming. Bulqini adds a touch to the visual design set, Zamzam Mubarok & Aji Sangiaji for the lighting set, and Pohaci Studio for the sound recording device.
