Mentioning Mentally Ill Individuals Free from Covid in Podcast 'Close The Door,' Dozens of Disability Organizations Send Legal Notices to Deddy Corbuzier & Mongol

The Healthy Mind Association and dozens of disability organizations have issued an open legal notice to Deddy Corbuzier and Mongol.

They feel insulted after watching Deddy's podcast with Mongol as a guest, and finding statements that Mentally Ill Individuals or People with Mental Disabilities are mentioned to be free from Covid-19 virus attacks.

"What appeared in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast, in his conversation with Mongol, has offended many people. Not only people with mental disabilities, but also people with disabilities as a whole. Insulting one group of disabilities is an insult to the entire disability movement," said Yeni Rosa Damayanti, Chairperson of the Healthy Mind Association, in a virtual press conference on Wednesday (30/6/2021).

An open letter of summons was read alternately by three individuals from various groups of people with disabilities. There is Anam, a survivor of schizophrenia who has been treated in a mental hospital, Reggie Pranoto, the founder of the Borderline Personality Disorder Community in Indonesia, and Ratna Dewi, a bipolar survivor.

There are several statements from Deddy Corbuzier and Mongol that are considered inaccurate and misleading. Such as People with Mental Disorders free from Covid-19, whereas hundreds of People with Mental Disorders scattered throughout Indonesia have been declared positive and among them have died.

In their statement, the Association of Mental Health and dozens of organizations requested three things from Deddy Corbuzier and Mongol. Namely, first, to withdraw the upload titled Crazy People Free from Covid on the Youtube channel.

Then, stop the circulation of the content as a form of accountability for the mistakes, insults, and mocking behavior that have been done.

And publicly apologize for the podcast to People with Mental Disorders or People with Mental Disabilities as well as the community, and promise not to repeat it. This good intention is awaited for 6 x 24 hours. If there is no apology, legal action will be taken immediately.

"As disabled people, we all feel hurt and offended. We have decided that this cannot be allowed because disabled people have been targeted for a long time. It's time for us to take a stand against this," said Yeni Rosa Damayanti.
