According to information gathered by KapanLagi.com, once the gender reassignment surgery has been successfully completed, the choice to change the gender status on the Family Card (KK) and the Identity Card (KTP) lies with the patient.
Some choose to continue using their old KK and KTP, while others opt not to. For those who choose to change it, there is a process that must be followed in the District Court and also at the Civil Registration and Population Office.
"Just submit an application. So submit a request to change gender status from male to female or vice versa. The application must include a letter of statement from the doctor who performed the surgery. Whether this person has truly undergone gender reassignment surgery. That will serve as evidence in the determination. Later the judge will examine and ask witnesses," said Achmad Guntur, Public Relations of the South Jakarta District Court, when contacted by KapanLagi.com
