Iis Dahlia Reveals Mpok Alpa's Unfulfilled Promise Due to Hiding Cancer Pain

The passing of comedian Nina Carolina, better known as Mpok Alpa on Friday (15/8/2025) left a deep sorrow for the entertainment world in the homeland. Behind her always cheerful persona, it turns out Mpok Alpa was fighting a significant battle against breast cancer alone, far from the public eye.

This fact was revealed by her close friend, senior dangdut singer Iis Dahlia. As someone who knew from the beginning, Iis Dahlia admitted to holding onto Mpok Alpa's trust to keep her illness a secret. According to her, the late woman was the type of person who did not want to be pitied.

Iis Dahlia recounted that there was a promise held by Mpok Alpa. The late woman planned to speak to the media herself after she fully recovered and healed.

"I knew from the beginning. But because she didn't want anyone to know, I didn't tell anyone; it was a trust, you know. Maybe she was the type of person who didn't want anyone to know she was sick," said Iis Dahlia when met in the area of Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, on Monday (18/8/2025).

Furthermore, the 53-year-old woman revealed her friend's big plans. Mpok Alpa wants to appear in front of the public again in prime condition, after her hair grows back post-chemotherapy and after undergoing surgery to remove her cancer cells.

"He said he would talk to the reporters later when he has recovered, his hair has grown back, and he has undergone surgery," added Iis.

Unfortunately, the surgery plan had to be postponed. Iis recounted that Mpok Alpa had been hospitalized and was ready for the procedure, but suddenly she coughed. This condition caused the medical team to delay the surgery and advised her to recover first.

"Because the last time she was about to have the cancer removed. But when she got there, she was already admitted, ready for the procedure, she coughed. The doctor said, 'You have to go home first, you can't stay,'" explained Iis Dahlia.

The doctor advised that Mpok Alpa focus on curing her cough first in Jakarta before coming back for the surgery. "We can't operate if you're still coughing. Treat it first in Jakarta, and once it's resolved, then come back," concluded Iis Dahlia.

Mpok Alpa's promise to share her healing story never came to fruition. She took her last breath and was buried at TPU Kujaran, Ciganjur, South Jakarta, leaving behind memories and laughter for all of us.
