Nadya Hutagalung Suggests Her Children to Be Childfree Because the Earth is Already Too Crowded

As an environmental activist, Nadya Hutagalung has an unconventional view on offspring. Instead of encouraging her children to marry and have children soon, she actually suggests the opposite.

In the show Kumar Vs The World, Nadya bluntly revealed that she advises her children not to have kids. This statement surprised the other panelists, especially because it contradicts the views of most parents in general. Not without reason, as an environmentalist, she feels that the world is currently overpopulated and cannot accommodate more people.

"I love my children, but as an environmentalist, this world is already too full. The Earth can no longer support more people," emphasized Nadya, who is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme.

This mother of three also shared her personal experiences that made her more aware of the environmental crisis. She recounted the drastic differences she observed underwater before and after the birth of her first child.

"Before he was born, the sea was full of colorful corals, with various shapes. It was very beautiful. But when I dove again after he was born, the corals were damaged, the fish were trapped, and plastic was floating everywhere," she recounted.

"So I thought, if in such a short time of my life the earth could change that badly, what about the lives of my children later?" she added.
