Not Because Reported by Kartika Putri, This is the Real Reason Doctor Richard Lee Was Arrested by the Police

Kapanlagi.com - Investigators from the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police arrested Richard Lee on Wednesday (11/8) at his home in Palembang, South Sumatra. Apparently, the arrest was not due to the aftermath of the defamation report filed by Kartika Putri.

The arrest of Richard Lee is allegedly due to violations of the ITE Law, illegal access, and alleged tampering with evidence. Investigators also found evidence of illegal access on his personal Instagram and Twitter accounts.

"This case is not about defamation reported by Ms. K (Kartika Putri)," said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Yusri Yunus, on Thursday (12/8). "There was illegal access and theft of evidence committed by RL," Yusri Yunus added.

1. Forcibly Arrested

When he was about to be secured by the police at his home in Palembang, the man who works as a doctor was uncooperative and refused to accompany the police. That's why the police eventually resorted to forced apprehension.

"It's in accordance with the procedure. The person (Richard Lee) initially refused to be taken by the investigator, so forced measures were taken. We came to read his rights, but he didn't want to come along, so forced measures were taken," he concluded.

2. Wife Cries

The video of the forced arrest was uploaded by Richard Lee's wife, Reni Effendi. In the video uploaded on her Instagram story, the police can be seen forcibly taking Richard Lee. Reni can be heard crying as her husband is being escorted out of the house.

Renie also expressed her protest regarding the forced arrest of her husband. Although her husband has never committed any criminal or terrorist acts. "Even though my husband is not a criminal or a terrorist, can they still do forced arrests? Please, I want to ask if this is really how the law works?" Reni said.
