Now Detained for an Accident Case, Gaga Muhammad's Parents Initially Planned to Marry Their Child to Laura Anna

Gaga Muhammad's lawyer stated that his client actually took care of Laura Anna during her treatment.

"Actually, Gaung took care of her, that's the information I received from her mother, she took care of her for over a year, went to her house, and so on," said Fahmi Bachmid at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday (9/12/2021).

1. Parents Plan to Get Married

Before being taken to the legal realm, initially Gaga's side planned to resolve the issue within the family. In fact, Gaga's parents also plan to marry their child with Laura Anna.

"Even from her mother's family, they discussed the idea of getting married. But what happened instead was that the legal process was ongoing, maybe they felt that there was no need to discuss it within the family anymore," he said.

Not only that, Gaga's family also tried to help in the healing process of Anna Laura from paralysis.

"Her mother also came bringing a therapist from Sulawesi to treat her, so it took more than a year to take care of her. It's not easy for a man to take care of someone for more than a year, it's amazing," said Fahmi Bachmid.

3. Proceed with Further Trial

It is known that Gaga Muhammad has just undergone a continuation trial for a traffic accident case at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday (9/12/2021). Conducted virtually, this trial is scheduled to hear witness testimonies from the Prosecutor. However, because the witness presented by the Prosecutor could not attend the trial, the trial was postponed to next week.

"If the trial is postponed, it is indeed the Prosecutor who requests the postponement. As the legal counsel for the defendant, Gaung, I am only following this legal process. The result of yesterday's trial was truly extraordinary. It was revealed, firstly, after drinking," said Fahmi Bachmid.

"So we cannot see it from one side, so here both of them had been drinking, that is admitted by both of them. One had been drinking, then fell asleep, and there is testimony that one of them was wearing a seatbelt halfway, we will see later in the trial," concluded Fahmi Bachmid.

4. Admit Being Drunk While Driving

Regarding the car accident that caused Laura to have nerve damage, Gaga said that they had indeed been drinking and drunk beforehand. Gaga admitted that at that time he was tired and decided to go home.

"We all had been drinking, not just me. It happened from Blok M, a place to eat at B, and the incident occurred when we were on Jagorawi. It's quite far for someone who is drunk. That night I was really tired," Gaga explained.

"I fell asleep for a while. When I woke up a few seconds later, there was already a truck in front of me instead of crashing into the truck, which would have been worse for both of us, so I decided to take the right lane," he continued.

5. 5 Years Prison Threat

Gaga Muhammad is now officially detained at Rutan (Detention House) Satlantas Metro East Jakarta since November 2, 2021, related to a traffic accident case. As a result of the accident, his former girlfriend, Laura Anna, who was in the car with Gaga, became paralyzed.

In relation to this case, Gaga is charged under Article 310 paragraph 3 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning traffic and road transportation regulations. If proven guilty, the 20-year-old man could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

"The article applied is Article 310 paragraph 3 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning traffic and road transportation regulations. The maximum punishment is 5 years," said Public Prosecutor Handri at the East Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (12/7/2021).
