Kapanlagi.com - The love story of Cherly Juno and Arthur Chandra was once colored by significant challenges during their 12 years of dating. Their relationship had to be conducted backstreet for 11 years due to strong ethnic differences between their families.

Cherly, who is of Chinese descent, and Arthur, who is Batak, had to face traditions that still prioritize couples of the same ethnicity. Nevertheless, they received blessings and eventually married on November 17, 2017.

Cherly shared that from the beginning, Arthur was accepted by her family. However, it was she who had to prove her seriousness to Arthur's family.

From this long and challenging love journey, Cherly and Arthur created a song titled Cerita Kita. This song becomes a symbol of their journey that was not easy but ultimately ended happily.

"So that's why I really wanted to share. I happened to go to Pekanbaru because my husband’s parents are from Pekanbaru," she said.

This step was not easy, considering that at that time Cherly was still known as a member of the girlband Cherrybelle. Her popularity did not hinder her sincere intention to show her seriousness.

"At that time, I was still Cherly Chibi, but that didn't dampen my spirit to convey to her parents that I love their child and we want to take the next step," she said.

Cherly admits that their love struggle is not like that of a typical couple. She even feels like they have reversed traditional roles, where usually it is the man who fights hard. "It's actually the opposite, right? haha," she said while laughing.

"Yes, but that's our love story, what matters is that we both want to fight together and not always think that only men have to fight, but we (women) also have to be able to fight like that," she continued.

Although it was initially challenging, Cherly feels relieved because Arthur's parents turned out to be quite open.

"Welcome, so actually I already knew but it seems like it's just a matter of who speaks first," Cherly revealed.
