Comedian Tri Retno Prayudati, commonly known as Nunung, recently provided clarification regarding news that she is selling assets and living in a boarding house. Nunung emphasized that the asset sales occurred in 2019, when she was facing legal issues and undergoing rehabilitation. Read her full story below!
"I sold those assets, actually it was back in 2019 when I got into trouble, I was in rehab for 9 months, and there was no income, life just went on," Nunung stated when met in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (26/2/2025).
During the rehabilitation period, Nunung had no income and had to meet her family's living needs. As the breadwinner, she felt the need to sell some of her assets.
"I live not (only) with my husband and my child, there are many I have to support because I am the breadwinner," she explained.
After completing rehabilitation, Nunung faced new challenges with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted her work. This made her reconsider selling assets to meet her living needs.
"Well, after rehab, hit by COVID, no more work, so it’s not wrong if I sell the assets I have so I can have something to sell to live, that's it," said Nunung.
Nunung also clarified that she currently lives in Solo and only rents a boarding house when she has work in Jakarta. This is done to facilitate her mobility without the hassle of managing a rental contract.
"If I'm in Jakarta, it's only when there are guest stars, rather than renting a place, which is a hassle, buying this and that, it's better to rent a room. Well, renting a room isn't every day; maybe just today, then I'll go home," she said.
In addition, Nunung explained that the sale of her assets happened five years ago and not because she ran out of funds for treatment. She emphasized that her treatment is still ongoing and her current condition is healthy.
"That actually happened five years ago, but I was only asked about it recently, so it became a hot topic. I don't have a place to stay in Jakarta because I don't have a job, and I often go back to Solo," said Nunung.
