Officially Declared as a Suspect, Jerinx SID Faces Six Years in Prison and a Fine of Rp 1 Billion

Kapanlagi.com - The drummer of the band SID, I Gede Ary Astina alias Jerinx, has finally been declared a suspect on Wednesday (12/8) for alleged defamation where he referred to the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) as a puppet of the WHO. After being interrogated and declared a suspect, Jerinx SID was immediately detained in the Bali Police detention center.

Kombes Pol Syamsi, the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, confirmed this when contacted by phone on Wednesday (12/8). Syamsi stated that the detention was carried out because the evidence had been fulfilled.

"So, the person in question has been detained. The interrogation was just conducted earlier, and after being interrogated as a suspect, the detention was immediately carried out because two valid pieces of evidence have been fulfilled," said Syamsi.

"He was just interrogated as a suspect and was immediately detained," he added.

1. Previously Examined

Kombes Pol Syamsi also stated that before being called a suspect, Jerinx was examined. After undergoing examination for the second time, the 43-year-old man was immediately designated as a suspect.

"Being called a suspect, initially the examination was as a witness, then this second examination was as a suspect, detained because it is considered to have tampered with valid evidence," he said.

2. Imprisoned and Fined

Because of his actions, Jerinx is charged under Article 28 paragraph (2) Jo, Article 45A paragraph (2) or Article 27 paragraph (3) Jo Article 45 paragraph (3) of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions and/or Article 310 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 311 of the Criminal Code, in accordance with Police Report No. LP/263/VI/2020/Bali/SPKT, dated June 16, 2020.

Not only that, he also faces a prison sentence of six years along with a fine of Rp 1 billion.
