Kapanlagi.com - Musician Vidi Aldiano has just released an English single titled W U At? (pronounced: Where You At?). Interestingly, this comeback is accompanied by a change in stage name to just Vidi.
Vidi explains that the name change is related to several reasons. Besides sounding fresh, it is also to make it easier to be remembered by the global market, which is now his target.
"If wanna go back, if wanna make a comeback, it has to be big. So what can make it fresh? One of them is that I want to change my brand by putting the name Aldiano on hold, so the name is just Vidi. So that this brand name can be easier to pronounce by people. Not just Indonesians, but the target market is global," said Vidi when met in the Ampera area, South Jakarta, Friday (6/10/2023).
Furthermore, Vidi's reason for removing Aldiano is also because the name is often mispronounced. Instead of causing confusion, he decided to rest it.
"Those people often mispronounce Aldiano as Aldiano lah, apa lah, and so on. That's why I chose Vidi to make it simpler," said the husband of Sheila Dara.
For the past three years due to the pandemic, Vidi suddenly became more known as a content creator. Not wanting his reputation as a musician to be buried, he decided to make a comeback with a new name and an English-language song.
"Honestly, since the beginning of 2023, I've actually rejected many gig offers not because of anything, but because of insecurity. Like feeling that I don't have any new works. This year alone, suddenly I have a program with Deddy Corbuzier, suddenly I got an offer to be an MC. So, what am I now, my reputation as a singer from 2008 is buried. That's why I want to bring it back," Vidi emphasized.
