Often Rejected by Radio Stations and Record Labels at the Beginning of His Career, Pamungkas: My Life is Always a Failure

However, when met at the KLY office in Gondangdia, Central Jakarta, on Friday night (16/4), this 28-year-old male soloist considered it as something normal. According to him, the rejections are actually common.

1. Continuously Failing

"I can actually say that my life is constantly failing, it's normal to face rejection and hit a dead end," said Pamungkas.

"I prefer to fail because handling success is much more difficult. When you fail, you know what's wrong and what's right. I'm the type of person who needs to hit rock bottom before learning. Making mistakes has become normal," he continued.

2. Streaming Platform

In addition, the singer, whose full name is Rizki Rahmahadian Pamungkas, realizes that his English songs are difficult to be played on radio or signed by labels. Therefore, digital platforms become the chosen bridge.

"Actually, in my opinion, with the existence of streaming platforms and their popularity in Indonesia, the door and bridge are much wider. My songs are also in Indonesian language, but it just happens that English songs are more frequently heard. Again, it goes back to the platform, language is just a communication tool," he said.

3. Enjoy the Process

Learning from his experience, Pamungkas also advised new musicians not to give up easily because success only comes once and there is a process to get there.

"My message to those who are struggling, enjoy the process, don't be afraid of failure, failure is normal. You only need to succeed once, there will be many failures and become stronger when pressed higher, just keep moving forward, that's how the process works. If success is easy, it's not fun, enjoy the process," he concluded.
