Kapanlagi.com - The passing of Ray Sahetapy has left a deep sorrow for many, including actress Olivia Zalianty. She reminisced about the last moments with the senior actor and regrets not being able to see him before he passed away.
"Oh yes, last night he said, oh it just felt uncomfortable, wanted to fly first, then told mom, and me. Liv, please visit," said Olivia Zalianty when met at the Sentosa funeral home (Gatot Subroto) Block C, Wednesday (2/4/2025).
However, at that time Olivia was not feeling well. She and her mother were suffering from the flu, so the plan to visit Ray Sahetapy was postponed.
"Well then mom was not feeling well, she was sick, had the flu, and now it's the season too. It was already planned, especially since I was fasting at that time, from the first day of fasting in Solo, in Surabaya, so I came back about 3 days, 5 days ago, 5 days ago," she continued.
When she finally returned to Jakarta, her condition had not improved. Olivia felt she did not want to visit Ray while sick, as she was worried it would further burden the condition of the senior actor.
"Then the condition was like coughing and cold, it really wasn’t good, like being sick with a sick person, because when you're sick it’s not good, so it’s also pitiful. Yesterday was really bad, the coughing and cold," she said.
Regret arises because she could not fulfill Ray Sahetapy's request before his departure. Olivia can only reminisce about all the kindness and teachings given by the veteran actor.
"It's just that, now it's like, so yeah, we have to involve, we have to take care of his family, if we are in the middle world, we have to take care of his family," she said.
According to Olivia, Ray was a great actor who starred in more than 100 films throughout his career. He also became a role model for many generations in the world of acting.
"How many years have they acted? More than 100 films, right? In 1983, around the time I was just born, he already received a Citra award. So mom said, you listen to that, because you see, acting sometimes is good, like I said earlier, but how, if we don't look like we're acting, like just talking normally, but it's good, up to that point," she explained.
In addition, Olivia also reminisced about the long discussions they had, especially about culture and nationalism. Ray Sahetapy, according to her, always had a broad perspective on Indonesia.
"Well, that's my personal experience, and besides that, there were many dialogues regarding the archipelago, regarding nationalism, there were so many. I had to have, like discussion moments, then events, what was it, back then at Mufakat Budaya Indonesia, I often engaged in dialogues, enrichment activities together, that happened quite often," she explained.
Now, Olivia can only cherish the beautiful moments with Ray Sahetapy and hopes that all the lessons imparted by that senior actor can continue to be passed down to future generations.
