Petty Tunjungsari, daughter of Indonesian music maestro Titiek Puspa, shares her struggle to protect her mother's works. She admitted to managing the copyrights of several assets owned by Titiek Puspa that have been misused by irresponsible parties.
"Yes, I am trying to manage the copyright license, because there are many, like three years ago, four years ago," she said when met in the area of Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, Monday (14/4/2025).
Petty revealed that she once found a photo of her mother stolen and used by a product without permission. This led to negative responses from the public towards the artist, even though Titiek Puspa was not involved in the promotion.
"The photo of Eyang was stolen by a product, and then there were negative comments from the public about this product," she continued.
More than just a personal loss, Petty believes that this misuse tarnishes her mother's good name. She feels a moral responsibility to preserve the artistic legacy that Titiek Puspa has created throughout her life.
"It's her moral responsibility, she used that image, even though those images are from other product advertisements," said Petty.
Not only that, he also questioned the transparency of the use of the photo in legal and tax aspects. Fortunately, decisive action from his legal team successfully stopped the violation.
"Well, later if we look at the tax, even though my mother didn't receive money from him, so I take care of that, basically he has already taken it down," he asserted.
Petty also admitted that she is now more actively involved in managing her late mother's assets. Together with the legal team, she hopes that all of Titiek Puspa's works can be legally protected."So our lawyer helps us to manage things like that," she concluded.
