Lately, there has been a lot of talk about several Jakarta artists who are involved in alleged cases of promoting online gambling on social media. Some artists like Wulan Guritno and Yuki Kato have been summoned by the Bareskrim Polri to provide statements.

When asked for comment on this matter, presenter Vega Darwanti expressed disappointment with why many of her fellow artists are getting into legal trouble in an area that they should already have mastered.

"I also don't understand. Even though in my opinion they are actually friends who already have experience," said Vega Darwanti in the Tendean area, Jakarta, on Sunday (24/9/2023).

Vega herself admitted to applying strict selection in accepting an endorsement offer that comes to her.

"If it's like an endorsement, I am one of those who will filter it first. Sometimes people can be untrustworthy even if the product is good," said Vega Darwanti.

In addition, Vega also often rejects endorsement offers that she feels are not suitable to be advertised by her. Vega will only accept if she already knows the details of the product to be promoted.

"If I'm not competent in that field, I don't want to. Netizens also know that Vega Darwanti rarely plays games," said Vega Darwanti.

"I want to advertise something that I understand, like clothes, skin care. If it's something that I don't understand, usually I don't accept," he concluded.

Furthermore, Vega believes that the fault is not entirely on the artists who advertise online gambling. It could also be because they were caught off guard due to their lack of knowledge about online gambling concepts.

"Whether it's being caught off guard or the initial system of the program, I don't understand. But if it's someone who is not knowledgeable, they really can't differentiate between gambling and online gaming," Vega Darwanti concluded.
