Planning to Go Home to Solo, Nunung Bravely Visits Her Mother's Grave

This year’s Eid will be a special moment for Nunung. The senior comedian plans to return to her hometown in Solo as usual, but this time she also wants to gather the courage to visit her mother’s grave. Previously, her husband had invited her to perform a pilgrimage before Ramadan, but at that time she wasn’t ready.

"God willing, because my husband wanted to invite me to perform a pilgrimage before fasting, 'come on' but I wasn't ready. 'Promise me for Eid, okay? We'll visit mom's grave, right?' God willing," said Nunung when met in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, on Sunday (16/3/2025).

The Eid tradition in Nunung's family remains the same as in previous years. After the Id prayer, they gather, forgive each other, and eat together. However, until now, Nunung has not dared to join in the pilgrimage.

"It's just the usual, Id prayer, after the prayer, forgiving each other, then eating together. They go on the pilgrimage, I'm still not brave enough, I'm at home. It feels like I still can't forgive myself, so there's still a sense of fear. For now, I can only pray," she revealed.

However, this year, he wants to face his fears and hopes to visit his mother's grave directly. "But God willing, by the next Eid, I will be mentally ready to visit. I really miss her," he said.

When asked what he wanted to say at his mother's grave, Nunung could not hold back his tears. He felt guilty for not being able to take care of his mother when she was sick, remembering that he was serving a sentence at that time."Of course, I want to apologize, because it might be said to be too late. When my mother was sick, I couldn't take care of her because I was inside. Until she was gone, I could only visit briefly at the cemetery, then go home," said Nunung with deep regret.

His husband always supports him, assuring that his mother must have forgiven him and feels happy with the prayers that Nunung always sends."Your mother is already happy. You pray for your mother every day, and that makes her able to smile there," said his husband.

In addition to visiting graves, Nunung will also take advantage of the Eid moment in Solo to reconnect with her extended family."After visiting the graves, we will go to the older relatives like uncles, there are still younger siblings, right? Then, we will just eat at home," she explained.

Despite having many activities, Nunung still prepares holiday bonuses for her grandchildren. She also ensures that her food stall in Solo remains open during Eid due to high demand.

"Of course, the grandchildren are definitely waiting for their mother, the children are surely waiting for their mom. And I have a food stall that will remain open during the Eid moment because it is a very special moment," she revealed.

In the midst of her struggle to maintain her health, Nunung wants to make this Ramadan and Eid a moment full of happiness."Just make it happy, make it joyful. If we keep dwelling on it, the illness is already under the doctor's control. Alhamdulillah, I've been helped by friends, right?" she concluded.
