Adjie was born with the name Adjie Mindosio Pangestu on November 21, 1969, in Semarang, Central Java. He is the child of parents of Sundanese and Javanese descent.

He started his acting career through the series Mahkota Majapahit in 1994. He became widely known after playing Ustaz Addin in the series Lorong Waktu and Jimmy in the series Tersanjung.
