A 7.7 magnitude earthquake that shook the Northeastern area of Mbay, Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Saturday (15/8/2026), has drawn deep concern from public figures in the country.
One of them is the famous YouTuber & celebrity, Atta Halilintar, who expressed his condolences and provided assistance to the affected residents. Through his latest social media post, Atta shared photos of his visit to NTT to provide direct assistance.
Atta admitted that he experienced some aftershocks alongside residents who were struggling and enduring in the midst of the disaster. Atta mentioned that he stayed at the aid post with several other volunteers.Â
The father of two children traveled by land and sea to reach the affected villages that have yet to receive electricity. He did all this to ensure timely assistance for the victims.
"We came to deliver the blessings entrusted by God for friends who are full of smiles and hope, to several disaster posts here," wrote Atta Halilintar.
Atta's actions, who directly went to the areas affected by the NTT earthquake, received praise from netizens. Many netizens expressed their respect for the social actions taken by this 31-year-old man.
According to preliminary data from the Maumere SAR Office, 112 people were affected by the earthquake spread across six districts on Flores Island, with 48 people reported dead and 64 others suffering from serious or minor injuries.
The joint SAR team continues to expand search and rescue operations, especially in the area of Mbay City, Nagekeo Regency, and Reo, Manggarai Regency.
In addition to Atta Halilintar, several other public figures are also reported to be mobilizing assistance for the earthquake victims in NTT, including Raffi Ahmad, who is said to be planning to shift his event agenda in Lombok to solidarity activities for NTT.Â
The concern from these celebrities adds to the long list of assistance flowing from various elements of society and the government to expedite the recovery of the affected areas.
