Portrait of Eko Patrio Remembers Nurul Qomar, the Mentor Who Always Gave Rp 5000 When Starting His Career in the 80s

The passing of legendary comedian Nurul Qomar on Wednesday (1/8/2025) brought deep sorrow to many, including his fellow professional, Eko Patrio. The comedian and politician remembered Qomar as a kind mentor who always supported him from the beginning of his career.

Eko Patrio shared that Qomar was the first person to give him additional blessings when he was still paving his way in the entertainment industry. That support has become one of the memories he will never forget. Check out the complete portrait below!

"The one who provided for me when I was still nothing, he was the first," said Eko when met at TPU Carang Pulang, Tangerang, Thursday (1/9/2025).

In his memories, Eko recalls moments when Qomar always invited him to go home together to save on transportation costs. Not only that, Qomar often gave him extra money to help with his needs.   "He didn’t just give me a ride, but he also gave me money," said Eko.

Eko admitted that the amount of Rp 5,000 given by Qomar at that time was very meaningful to him. In the 1980s, that amount was quite significant to cover various needs, including school fees.   "Back then, whenever I went with him, I was always given Rp 5,000. That was in the '80s, you know," he continued.

For Eko, Qomar's kindness became a savior during his difficult times. He even used that money to pay for school fees when he was still in high school.   "It means that Rp 5,000 was a lot for me, you know, because I could use it to pay for school. Back then, I was in the second or third year of high school," he reminisced with emotion.

Qomar's kindness left a deep impression on Eko. Until Qomar's last days, Eko always remembered the contributions of his mentor who not only provided material assistance but also encouragement and prayers.   "From when I was not yet successful, until I became successful, he always mentored me. He kept praying for me. So now, I am close to his family," said Eko.

This closeness made Eko feel the loss of a figure who had contributed greatly to his life and career. Qomar, according to Eko, was not just a colleague, but also a role model who had a significant influence on him.

Nurul Qomar, known as a member of the comedy group Empat Sekawan, passed away at RSUD Tangerang after battling colon cancer since 2021. Although he was once declared cured, the disease reemerged in late 2023. Qomar's departure left deep sorrow for his family, friends, and fans.

Now, Eko Patrio can only pray that his mentor finds the best place by His side. The memories of Qomar's kindness and support remain eternal in the hearts of Eko and many others who have felt the love of this legendary comedian.
