Senior lawyer Hotma Sitompul arrived at the funeral home in the Antasari area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (16/4/2025) afternoon. The ambulance carrying the body from Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) arrived at 16:54 WIB.
Upon arrival at the location, the atmosphere immediately fell silent as family and mourners welcomed the arrival of the body. Hotma's body was then lifted and carried into the house by family members.
Hotma Sitompul passed away at the age of 68. Before taking his last breath, this veteran lawyer had undergone intensive medical treatment due to complications from illness.
A family representative, Philipus Sitepu, revealed that Hotma had been treated abroad before being brought back to Jakarta. According to him, Hotma's condition had indeed deteriorated in recent times.
"Recently he was ill and was last treated in Penang as well. Then he was treated at RSCM too," said Philipus at RSCM, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (16/4/2025).
After receiving treatment in Penang, Hotma was transferred to RSCM to continue his treatment. He was hospitalized for several days until he finally passed away on Wednesday morning.
"So today, this morning, Mr. Hotma's condition deteriorated very drastically. And at 11:15 AM WIB he passed away," said Philipus.
During his treatment at RSCM, Hotma underwent regular dialysis procedures. However, the family was reluctant to disclose the illness he suffered in more detail."Yes, it's due to complications indeed. There were also that," said Philipus.
Dialysis became a part of Hotma's routine treatment in his final days. The procedure was performed several times a week.
"For the illness itself, it usually happens two to three times a week (dialysis)," Philipus said.
At the funeral home, a somber atmosphere enveloped the mourners who came. Flower arrangements from relatives and fellow lawyers were neatly lined along the fence and yard of the funeral home. Some staff were also seen setting up a tent in the yard area. The tent was prepared to accommodate guests who came to pay their respects at the funeral home.
