The joys and sorrows of starting her own business have certainly been experienced by this 22-year-old girl.
From friends' questions assuming she was facing financial difficulties to lack of buyers, Melati has experienced it all.
"Maybe they think I need money, it seems like they only think about it, but it's up to them to think whatever they want. Enjoy, okay," said Melati Sesilia when met in the Johar Baru area, Central Jakarta recently.
In short, Melati became viral on social media after a buyer realized that she was a former member of JKT48.
From there, her nasi bakar (grilled rice) became famous and visited by several top artists in the country.
"At first, because one buyer recorded and it went viral, then they contacted me, and from there it started to get crowded. I started selling at Rans TV snack stalls and became known," she said.
Melati Sesilia also revealed that now the sales of her grilled rice can be one hundred times more than when she first started.
Not only that, she also managed to help her relatives' economy.
It is known that some of her relatives were affected by the pandemic, and Melati's grilled rice provides them with an opportunity to earn income.
"The sales have increased one hundred times now, I can sell 350 or 400 portions of grilled rice in one day," she said.
"I'm just helping my family first, inviting my unemployed relatives. Many families have been helped because of this grilled rice, especially those affected by the pandemic," she added.
