Thousands of people took to the streets and gathered in front of the Indonesian Parliament building in Senayan, Jakarta today, Thursday (22/8). They voiced their rejection of the revision of the Election Bill draft that was recently decided by the Indonesian Parliament.

Not only students took to the streets to monitor the Constitutional Court's decision today, but also dozens of artists participated. From Arie Kriting and Muhadkly Acho, to Mamat Alkatiri and Reza Rahadian who joined in the oration.

Reza Rahadian joined the protest and spoke in front of the Indonesian Parliament building today to voice his rejection of the Regional Election Bill and support the Constitutional Court's decision. Reza admitted he couldn't sleep seeing what the members of the Indonesian Parliament and the leaders of this country had done.

As the day progressed, the crowd gathering at the Indonesian Parliament became increasingly large. Some began to make bonfires in front of the Pancasila gate of the Indonesian Parliament building.

This demonstration is very large. Not only students are taking to the streets, but also comedians such as Arie Kriting and Mamat Alkatiri are joining the protest.

The movement of the crowd in front of the Indonesian Parliament gate is very massive. Initially, they managed to push back the barbed wire fence that was set up in front of the gate.

Then the masses managed to open the fence and enter the area of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI). Some of the crowd ran inside even though they were blocked by the police.

After the fence was opened, the masses moved freely into the area of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI). Here, the officers tried to establish communication with the demonstrators to keep the situation conducive.

As this news was reported, the demonstration at the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI) was still ongoing. Police were observed starting to fire tear gas at the demonstrators, and some individuals also faced violence from the authorities.
